The GMC's two-bunks-separated-by-a-table design done with logs instead of the more common wood frame. Shelter has an eastern exposure and is good for sunrise viewing. The tiny, very old, Caughnawaga Shelter is just down the hill

    The double-board crossbars are new from the 1970's. Not sure what purpose they serve. I remember this as a very nice shelter serenaded by porkies every night who liked to chew on any piece of wood that caught the salt of hiker sweat.

    The crossbars keep the structure from swaying. Have stayed here several times and the porcupines are very active. Was here back in '79 also and the remains of an old waffle stomper attacked by porkies was hung up for all to see. Wish I would have photographed it with my old trusty 110 Instamatic
