After passing the western most parking area in Caledonia State Park, Pennsylvania, the A.T. begins a steep ascent from approximately 970 feet elevation to over 1300 feet elevation on the south slope of Chinquapin Hill. After a series of stone and log steps, the A.T. completes the ascent through a series of switchbacks. This is a view of the A.T. looking south approximately half way up Chinquapin Hill.
