Isn't the Mid State an extension of the Wapack? Both trails date back to the 1920's but while the Mid State has had periods of disuse, the current trail came together in the late 1970's, the Wapack has been continuously maintained since 1923. Great trail non-the-less.

I believe that is true. But technically the Wapack is the extension of the Mid-State Trail But I guess it depends on which direction you hike
