This 1958 log shelter for five is half a mile below the summit of Whiteface Mountain (VT) at a somewhat reliable spring. Great views of Mt Madonna, Mansfield and the valley below.

So that's what it looks like! My brother and I stopped in for a hot lunch on an drippy, misty, foggy day while doing a SOBO thru in August 1979. The rain picked up in the afternoon, with sleet, 40 mph winds, and eventually blowing snow as the temperature dropped into the 30's. It was probably the worst hiking weather I've ever experienced.

One of the best views, the mice are terrible here though.
