Lovely section of trail. I started my annual section hike NOBO from Front Royal on a lovely Fall afternoon several years ago and was just hitting my stride on this section. I felt so good that, after eating dinner at the Jim & Molly Denton Shelter I pushed on to the Manassas Gap Shelter (where I failed to get much sleep because of the resident monster wood rat).
