I know where this shot came from. Most hikers walk right by without seeing this place, even southbounders miss it. In 96 I don't recall the handprints, but the house was of course there. I once dropped my pack on the turn in the trail that is visual to this house. Ten minutes later my partner approached the house calling out my name. When he was just inside I scared the hell out of him. He ran screaming halfway back to the trail. It was one of those moments that I still laugh about today.
