Hey Youngblood, I was the Section \"Maintainer\" for that first section of the Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT) and was one of the two persons who chiselled that rock flat so we could install the plaque on it. The BMT is approved from Springer Mtn to Davenport Gap but the club needs a lot of help (new working [Trail Maintainer] members) if it is ever going to get there. It will be about 250 miles long when done.

Yeah Bill, it\'s pretty exciting stuff. There are several trails in progress that will dramatically change the face of long distance hiking in the southeast. The BMTA has published e-maps of the new section up to Dial Gap showing what is on existing trails and what has to be built out.
