Started my trail section at this tiny community on US 201, Thursday morning, Sept. 30, 2004. Caratunk, ME is known for being the home of "The Ferryman", Steve Longley who guides all AT hikers in his canoe across the Kennebec River. He also runs a hostel and general store here.
