Ah, Big Firescald Knob. I remember it well not because of the great views you experienced - I had a cloudy,rain-threatening day. Rather I remember a gust of wind blowing the rain cover off my pack and watching it drift down the slope like a parachute. Nothing I could do about it.

The memories aren't always inspiring, Cookerhiker, but they are memorable!

I had my wife stitch loops to the top/bottom/sides of my pack cover, through which I tied lightweight cord and attached with mini-biners. Works like a charm in heavy wind while surprisingly not noticeable against my back, adding just under an ounce of weight.
