Pulmorchard Gap Shelter Jan 2009. We thought there might be snow. We had no idea how much. Great trek.

So how much did there turn out to be?

Sorry, I didn't mention that. About 3-4 inches and it was still snowing when we left. We were out for just a weekend. The plan was to go from Dick's Creek to Pulmorchard, then head south to Deep Gap. Finally, back to Dick's Creek. Woke up and found everything white at Pulmorchard, so we decided to stay and have a snow day. The neatest thing was up in the gap. Turning your back to the wind and looking the direction the wind had been blowing all the trees disappeared into a white curtain. The locals thought we were crazy and one told us "You boys got balls". This Native Floridian loved that mysterious white stuff from the sky.

Ahhh, 3-4" makes it fun, as long as you're prepared and it's not too, too cold! I grew up in New England and just love the early snowfalls.
