This post and beam shelter was built in 2002 on the Pico relocation. It is about 2 miles from Route 4. Since it is on Federal property its design had to be handicap accessable. This didn't mean it needed ramps or lifts, only a low sleeping platform. Some older shelters on the AT have floors at similar heights.

    Handicap accesible lean too, on the A.T. now that is going too far. Why don\'t we black top and pave the whole D%$ trail.

    Because that would be going too far. A shelter with a low floor is hardly a threat.
