    judging by the picture, that snake appears to be very dead.

    It was once thought that the "canebrake" and timber were two different species.
    They are in fact the same snake...my Latin's rusty but i think it's Crotalus horidus ?
    This is the biggest Timber Rattlesnake I've seen..

    Look at the length of the stick used to hold the snake. Perspective is everything. The snake looks to be at least 4 to 6 feet closer to the camera. I've never seen a timber rattler over 4 feet.

    Oh, I see, it was found on a golf course in Macon, GA. Remind me to never go there, at least to a golf course.
