i would like to add this after i read

i wondered if it indeed tries to mimic a rattler like the black rat snake does
i once came accross a black rat snake that shook it tale in the leaves to mimic a rattler
and indeed the northern copper does as well ..From Wiki
"These snakes are generally quiet, almost lethargic, preferring to lie motionless when encountered or making to make a slow retreat. When sufficiently agitated, however, they can strike vigorously and may vibrate their tails rapidly.[5]" -

Copperhead! Many snakes will rattle at you. When they hit the leaves with their tails it sounds likea rattle. Rats, racers, milks copperheads and several other snakes will rattles at you. -
