In 1998 I learned the story behind this sign from the person who put it up. Seems there was a number of hikers taking a wrong turn and ending up at his house so he thought the sign would help hikers. Talking to him I learned he was a professor emeritus specialing in retirement law and welcomed us to visit him or to get water.
