81 year old Gene Hamilton provides shuttle service to the top of Springer Mtn and elsewhere. Of 6 people I contacted he was the only one who would carry us to Springer Mtn. He drives like a bat flying out of Hell, even on FS road 42, but I enjoyed our trip and conversation.

All he needs is a CD of Meatloafs "Bat Out of Hell" album. Listened to that on a fast shuttle in NH-- stuck with me so much that I bought my own tape and sometimes listen to it when I take off for the trail.

Man did see this man bring back memories! I've had a lot of shuttles over the years and he was the scariest of all! Thanks Uncle Wayne-great shot of the professor.
