  Description for Rausch Gap Shelter

Description by shelterbuilder

Built in the early 1970's in the foundation of an old "steam genny" building, Rausch Gap was once dubbed "the Halfway Hilton". The area was a coal mine in the 1800's; many old stone foundations can still be seen nearby.

Yep, not as luxurious as it seemed when I passed by in 1974.
