Picture of Cape Town Jenny during her PCT '02 thru-hike. She also thru-hiked the AT in '97.
She died of breast cancer on August 4, 2004. She had noticed the lump in her breast 6 years before, and unbeknownst to those around her, she hiked the PCT in 2002 with it. She was a stronger woman than I gave her credit for.
We met Jenny while going through Yosemite and hiked off and on with her up until Ashland, Oregon. The last time I saw her was probably close to the day 2 years before she would pass on.

    very inspiring story.My Dad passed away on Aug.04,2009 due to Lung cancer.Thanks for sharing this also.
