Here in VA those are wineberries. Wineberries have hairy canes, raspberries do not.

Those are wineberries, an exotic invasive. Please inquire about local laws before picking all you are able. In most of not all A.T. locations, they're an AYCE item.
Now, what we must consider next is by eating them are we not aiding in their dispersal by planting them elsewhere in catholes?
I see I need to post some links and images to help out with field identification.
