To give you an idea of the variation on the hike time to the top of Springer, it took me 2 hours and 40 minutes versus the "average" of 6 hours one-way; and I wasn't even the fastest in my group. Our slowest guy took about 3.75 hours.

Weather certainly plays a part (it was chilly and windy but clear for us), as does excitement, fitness level and pack weight (27 pounds for me), but I didn't think that the climb was all that difficult.
