For northbounders, the A.T. ascends Rocky Mountain along the western slope. The crest of Rocky Mountain consists of a rocky ridge line with significant larger boulders as you travel further north. This is a view from the A.T. looking down the east slope from the crest of Rocky Mountain from a location approximately 1.5 miles north of the Mont Alto Road (PA Route 233) crossing.
