Description by Lobo

Lobo

3/26/2000 Some say balds are caused by harsh weather conditions, others claim Indians cleared them, or they were over-grazed by animals or the work of spacemen. AuSable Mike is the one with the red pack. We ate lunch at the outcrop near the summit.

After entering a fenced-in area on the bald, we were immediately aware that a VERY large animal was roaming about. We spotted piles of poop that were at least 8 inches high and fibrous (after walking hundreds of miles on the AT one tends to notice the scat of other mammals*). We were all relieved after spotting the three Longhorns, except for AuSable Mike. He was wearing a red parka and red pack!

Was there yesterday and dined in the same spot. Spotted the hairballs but not the livestock. Glad to know that aliens may have had something to do with the balds.
