Exactly right. It\'s a special place. MedicineMan, you, Chris and smokeymtsteve recommended the side trip to Mt Cammerer to me and it has to be one of the best side hikes I\'ve ever taken.
Kerosene, knowing you from your trip reports and photos, you\'re really gonna love this place. -

I agree. It's a great view from Mt. Cammerer. I prefer CHarlies's Bunion as the best view in the Smokies, but, matter of opinion. If you stay overnight in the old firetower there watch out for the Park Service, since they don't allow overnighting there, or at least they told me they didn't. I don't know how much they patrol the area.
