A recently rediscovered old painting of Katahdin. "View of Mt. Katahdin From the West Bank of the Penobscot River" (1870) by Virgil Macey Williams. Christ Congregational Church in Silver Spring, West Virginia recently sold the painting for $90,000.00.

Is the $90,000 due more to the fact that it is from 1870, or the quality of the painting itself? -
