Built in the early 1970's in the foundation of an old "steam genny" building, Rausch Gap was once dubbed "the Halfway Hilton". The area was a coal mine in the 1800's; many old stone foundations can still be seen nearby.

    Yep, not as luxurious as it seemed when I passed by in 1974.
