Approximately one mile after entering Pine Grove Furnace State Park, the A.T. leaves the park and separates from the Cumberland County Biker/Hiker Trail and Old Railroad Bed Road. North of Pine Grove Furnace State Park, the A.T. begins a gradual ascent of Piney Mountain from approximately 850 feet in elevation to over 1400 feet in elevation over the next two miles before gradually descending for another two miles to Tagg Run. This is a view from the trail looking west toward South Mountain from a location approximately one mile north of Pine Grove State Park. SoBo 1084.3 NoBo 1094.8.
