Male Fritillary on left; female on right (Lobo ID). Believe that flower is a Bull Thistle, a European introduction.

They are both Fritillaries. Females are lighter in color but have heavier markings than males on the upper sides of the wings .

Wonderful photo!!! I love the colors and identifying the flower and the butterflies.
