A.T. Ascent Of Piney Mountain, PA, 12/30/11 Approximately one mile after entering Pine Grove Furnace State Park, the A.T. leaves the park and separates from the Cumberland County Biker/Hiker Trail and Old Railroad Bed Road. North of Pine Grove Furnace State Park, the A.T. begins a gradual ascent of Piney Mountain from approximately 850 feet in elevation to over 1400 feet in elevation over the next two miles before gradually descending for another two miles to Tagg Run.
