Default Miss Janet and her "trail magic"

hiked half of standing indian loop up to albert mountain before i met the amazing "Miss Janet". she was kind enough to join us that evening around the fire to tell us wisdom and stories from years of hiking and owning her own hostel in tennessee. but the best thing she shared with us was her "trail magic". thank you miss janet for all of your kindness and i hope to run into you again someday!

(and if you are reading this miss janet, we indeed hiked the seven miles back to our cars and went straight to the three eagles outfitters and bought a map!!)

Yesterday, while painting the interior of Double Springs Shelter with Mouse Repellent paint saw the following hikers:

    Body Snatcher
    Lt Dan
    Frizzle
    Steady
    Cauliflower
    Mystic Bear
    Doug Force One
    Bush Whacker
    Little Bird
    Middlebury
    Hobo
    Smiley
    Black Foot

    I reckon Damascus is getting crowded . . .

See you on the trail (& at Trail Days),

I ran into 3 thru hikers in NYC today. Didn't catch their names. They seemed in great spirits though, and said they were expecting to finish in June.
    Don't take anything I say seriously... I certainly don't.

Met a 70 year old man today, Loner Boner, doing his second thru. First one was in 2007. He was resupplying in Daleville, VA and I saw him in the parking lot of Kroger and gave him a ride to his motel. Very nice man and gentleman.

Yesterday I picked up four hikers who were by road at Mt. Rogers Headquarters. No, the names escape me, but the woman is from Poland, and the three guys are from Indiana, Chicago, and Connecticut. The woman wants to replace her tent with a hammock. I offered to drive her to and from Damascus, knowing that every imaginable hammock would be there for sale with its vendor. She chose not, citing the partying.

Maybe you should get that boy a TracFone, you sure seem to loose him a lot.

Has any one seen Fosters, Rev or Viticus. I hike with them for a day or two in the SNP a month or so ago and they are great guys. I'd love to hear how their doing.

Talked to "Twig" at Big Meadows Wayside in Shenandoah National Park on May 22. I would bet he's getting awfully close to Harpers Ferry by now.

He told me about agressive bears in SNP.
    Lemni Skate away

The trail will save my life
