I'm making an attempt at becoming a pro triathlete so missing a triathlon season to hike is just not gonna happen. Hiking in the fall and early winter is my only option. I hate hearing people tell me I can't do it but I'd love to get a lot of help and advice so I can complete a winter thru-hike confidently and safely.
getting back on trail. SOBO this time.
should summit 8/10/09.
start date was 1/1/09. seems like a long time ago doesn't it Tim

I had one of the most awesome-est experiences doing a thru hike in 2009. The people on the trail made it wonderful. I have so many new friends now.
Thanks WhiteBlaze for getting people together before, during and off the trail. And thanks for the ride in Maine!
I think you want to post that in the thru hiker registry- this is what people used to post before they're hikes. You want to be in the "2,000 mile alumni" (I think that's the new thru hike listing)
2010 AT NoBo Thru "attempt" (guess 1,700 miles didn't quite get me all the way through ;) )

If your looking for information on the thru, checkout "Loon"s journal on Trail Journals. One of the best I have read from last year. Filled, in the last few posts, with excellent list that cover a variety of topics concerning a through hike.

Been watching a few YT videos of people thru hiking the AT this year. Got me thinking of what stove I would carry if I ever did a thru hike. What would you carry and why?
