New Hiker Tips

So I've finally got the time to do the Georgia section of the AT this June. I'm planning on sleeping in my hammock the whole time. To shave off a bit of weight I'm debating on getting a cheap small sleeping bad or just using a bag liner. (I'm from Texas so I don't do great with cold). That being said, do you guys think I could get away with just a bag liner?

also, any other tips a new hiker should know?

I'm starting at Springer towards the end of June, and I also plan to sleep in a hammock. I'm from Florida, and I hate being hot when I sleep. I have the same questions as you. Sleeping pad? Bag? Liner? Cozy blanket? Lol. At least we have time to figure these things out!

I have done that part of the trail a few times, in June, July and Aug personally id say bring a BAG . I have done hammock and tarp and tent all in the GA , TN area I was very happy every time that I had my bag. (you will have your nights that you will not need it but some nights that you will need it) however that being said... you never know in the mountains. LOTs of rain!
