Hiking party: 1, hope to meet up with and make new friends along the way
Hike plan: Taking it one day at a time, walk home to Vermont, rest up a bit, then beyond to Katahdin, not planning a timeframe or miles, whatever happens, staying flexible. The only plans I’ve made right now are how I’m getting to GA (Amtrak) and my ride to Springer (MotherNature).
Reason for 2006 hike: Well, there hasn’t been a day in the past 29 years that I haven’t been connected somehow to the AT. It’s time once again to do some walking along its path.

Reason - There's a lot of reasons but the reason it's happening now is I have discussed this with a friend for 4 years, he just got out of the Army after graduating ranger school and serving in Afganistan and he has big plans for his future. Been eating dirt and sticks with this guy for the better part of 20 years, if we're going to do it, the time is now.
