I know this is an older post, but here is my two cents. Our local university has an outdoor library where a person or group can rent outdoor equipment for very cheap prices. All the gear they rent out they receive on a donation basis. They even sell some of the gear on a consignment basis.
Just giving another place for those wanting to donate to look into.
