Safe for you or safe for the tree from which you plan to hang?

Look into some polyproprolene tree straps, minimum 1" wide.

    Good Luck

Amsteel 7/64, will more than support you. Many online vendors selling tree straps also offer whoopie slings. Tree hugger/whoopie sling is my light weight suspension of choice.

    Again, Good Luck

Be sure to use a 1" or wider around the tree. People that use cord are giving hammocker's a bad reputation by harming the tree.

The lightest cord would probably be New England Rope's 2mm Dynaglide at 1.6oz/100ft.
And min 1" tree straps like others have suggested.

The "dirty little secret" that I encountered is that you might wind up considering, and using, a separate tarp suspension.

For the hammock 1" or even 2" straps (not cord) for the reasons cited above and a ridge line for your tarp.

'Course you could leave the tarp at home and maybe sleep in a bath tube Just sayin'.

I'm currently using a continuous line for my tarp but also wondering about converting it to straps as well.

Happens I like trees (g-g-g-granther was a druid maybe?) so I'm going to LNT as much as is practical. HYOH of course.
