Any recommendations on where to stay in Blue Ridge?
Any recommendations on where to stay in Blue Ridge?
There is a Comfort and Days Inn in Blue Ridge.
Elijay is about the same.
There is a cabin rental company in McCaysville. Cuddle Up I think. They have some really nice rentals.

Comfort Inn is nicer, Days Inn is cheaper. There is also another hotel, Douglas Inn. I've never stayed there, and they were a little reluctant to talk to me.

Is it an easy walk to town and resupply from Days Inn and Comfort Inn?
Appears to be hiker friendly. From Google Maps:
We spent almost $80.00 on a suite. It was extremely dirty. The tub had dirt rings in it 12 pieces of hair in the tub. The toilet had pee spots and hair on the rim. The floors were dirty and there was broken glass on the kitchen floor. The ceiling fans were caked with dust. The counters had soda spills and used stuff left in fridge. The place was absolutely disgusting! And the people that own it live on site and they would not give us our money back. And the suite stunk something awful. I had to go buy candles and air freshener and it still stunk. I will not ever rent for these people again nor will I refer anyone too them. Its sad when u rent a room and u have to go buy cleaning supplies to clean your own room, before u and your family can sleep and eat and take showers. I don't even give them one star.the nasties place I have ever stayed. Oh and we had to buy sheets for the bed. There was no way I was gonna sleep on the sheets they had on the bed. Such a waste of money between the cost of the suite plus the sheets, cleaning supplies and air freshener.
Max,
There are three hotels mentioned in the quote. Which place is the reviewer talking about?
We stayed in the Comfort Inn at Christmas, 2009. It passed Mrs. Wayne's inspection. That is not easy to do. Walking distance to grocery stores? Probably. Blue Ridge isn't very big. Use GOOGLE Maps to find a supermarket and then use GET DIRECTIONS-WALKING to the hotal for distance.

You're not walking to downtown from any of the BR motels, except the Comfort Inn, unless that counts as your hike. Careful getting across the highway. The other hotels are about a mile all uphill to downtown with few sidewalks. If your stay is more than 1 night, I would suggest renting a cabin. More expensive but all the luxuries. Disclaimer: I own a cabin that is a rental in BR less than 10 minute drive from downtown. But I have stayed in a couple of the motels/hotels in BR as well and there is no comparison to a cabin. PM me if you want more info on cabins.

We stayed in Blue Ridge for a night waiting for the cabin rental to start. Hard to call the house we rented a cabin. It was large, relatively new, and realy nice.

There are also some B&Bs in the Blue Ridge area that offer shuttles and stuff with stay. They are probably pricer than some hikers want to spend.

I can do my laundry in the Bath Tub! I am sure I will be able to hitch into town and find a place. Important question: Is there a watering hole?
GooseMan: Cabins sound great but I need to get to town to resupply. Unless, I leave a car there and flip to the Ocoee. I may leave a car in Blue Ridge if a friend meets me.
I don't think there is a bar in town. I think beer an wine are it. The grocery near the Days Inn sells that if I recall correctly.

This is a good place. Food has been very good the two times I've been there. Nice beer list and they have the hard stuff if that's your preference. Its more of a restaurant than watering hole but it's an option.
