Having heard in my other thread looking for a shuttle that the Shining Rock Wilderness was at some point closed to overnight camping because of bear activity, and not being able to find anything saying that the ban has been revoked, I was thinking of trying to get all the way to Ivestor Gap in one day. Is that too ambitious or is it safe and a lot more reasonable to stop at Shining Rock gap and camp there? Any tips or thoughts appreciated!

Camping:

Day 1: Start at Daniel Boone. Hike to Ivestor Gap. (~8 miles and a whole lot of elevation gain?)
Night 1 @ Ivestor Gap
Day 2: Start at Ivestor Gap, hike to Gloucester Gap (~10 miles ish)
Night 2 @ Gloucester Gap
Day 3: Hike to Davidson River Camp (~12 miles)

Water (reliable sources?)

Day 1: (DB-IG)
Deep Gap #1 (base of cold mountain)
Shining Rock
Day 2: (IG-GG)
Black Balsam Spur Trail
Deep Gap #2
Day 3: (GG-DR)
Butter Gap
