Thread: Permits

    Default Permits

If you are hiking the PCT, in California, but not 500 miles in total, do you need any permits other than the fire permit?

Does each member of a hiking party (there will be three of us) need a fire permit?

Contact the National Forest Service office that oversees the trail head that you'll be starting from. They can issue you a permit that would be good for your entire trip. You might need additional permits for any wilderness areas you travel through. Ask about that when you call.

since you can just print off the fire permits for each, do so.

I think you'll need a JMT permit if you are going over that section.
