Anybody have experience with the Spot Connect on the AT or other trails?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

You see lots of SPOTS and they work very well.

Thanks, 10-K. Version one of "Spot" didn't seem to have very consistent reviews and it's not clear to me if that's due to operator error, the product or both. Spot 2 seems better, but for me, Spot Connect seems the best fit of all. It looks a little bulky to me but if it works okay, then it'll be worth it. I have a Mophie charger for my phone and the combo should be fine for about a week at a time. Any other comments are appreciated.

Looks like fun and helpful in some situations... my daughter wants me to get one to take on my thru but it's too much money right now!

It makes my wife happy if I carry a SPOT on longer hikes so I do. I have the 2.0 version - just the SPOT and no text option - and in 2 years it has never failed to send an OK message that she didn't get.

If you're carrying a phone I think the SPOT text option might be redundant since you can always send a text using the phone quicker and easier.

Yeah, the family sure like following along... the kids enjoy getting the email update once a day when the wife and I do long outings. Our SPOT has always worked just fine. That all being said, I think it will be only the text-message phone thing for the AT for me.

I decided on the SPOT Connect as I doubt my iPhone will be usable in all areas and the Spot Connect will give my wife peace of mind in rural areas, but will also allow her to track where I am. Glad the comments have been positive so far. My Spot Connect should arrive this week.

Don't by the spot, the inreach is the only true sat tracker/communicator and its the only one I will use. The Spot uses some secondary satellite network while the inreach uses the iridium network, which I have used at the bottom of the world without a glitch. Just be mindful of the packages. I would only recommend the safety package if you are only using it a few times a year, just pay for the overages
