    Killer,

I am also going to hit the Trail in 2016, at least that is the plane as long as the Corps retiers me that is. I am hiking with my service dog and would look forward to hiking with some brothers from the Corps. Hit me up and maybe we can meet up on the trail.

Retiring in April 2016, going NOBO, but have not set a departure date. I'm good on gear, just need to maintain fitness until then.

Ticks, probably the one thing I am most concerned about. Small, hard to see if in an out of the way area, and can have serious affects.

I'm hoping to hit up shenandoah national park as well as some parts of Maryland throughout the spring and summer...maybe even thru hike the long trail in the fall. I'll be starting my AT thru hike probably in March 2016!

Late July and August I'm looking at doing the Presidential Traverse and Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway as shakedowns in NH.

If anyone wants to come along, the more the merrier.

Any '16ers have their blogs up and running yet? I'd love to read about people preparing for the trail and doing shakedown hikes. I've got mine set up on Wordpress and a few posts done.

Looking forward to seeing you all out on the trail, the current plan is to leave last week of March / First week of April.

My blog is up, but all that's contained there right now are AT Book reviews (as well as other book reviews) as I'm still in Afghanistan and haven't told my family about my intentions to hike yet. Content will pick up as I get home and move closer to my start date. The Url is : www.going-big.com

I'm starting a flip from Harper's Ferry northbound in early May - probably starting 2 or 3 May.
