There is no such thing! The gov. done a study back in the 70's and couldn,t find any.

Yes HikerMom it is I! Sorry I've been gone so long. I went through a sort of getting off the trail depression after getting settled in here in ASHEVILLE! This place is awesome, by the way.
But I mean, I feel like sex on the trail would be AWESOME! If it was with the right person. And you could find a good spot. Hah.
I assume you mean while long distance hiking and not just a couple of college kids on a dayhike?
I have it on good authority that it does happen. I also have it in good authority that some folks catch shelter mice for food. I find both cases equally unsanitary.

Sex "on the trail" is pretty rare--but sex does sometimes happen in shelters, in tents, out in the woods and definitely in hotel rooms. Frankly, other hikers---who are walking on the trail---generally don't want to step over (or walk around) people who are having sex on the actual trail! So, proper trail etiquette dictates that people have sex someplace OTHER than on the trail itself! But, ultimately HYOH and Your Mileage May Vary!
