It def happens. I know a few who found some in town at local bars and such. Check the Logs in the shelters, some brag about it, you may be surprised it happens more often than you think. Its pretty awesome in the middle of the woods during a rain/wind storm all to yourselves. I think you get used to not being clean, so that is not an issue.
They always warned me while hiking to watch out for the "pink-breasted split-tails".....
