hikermom, they defend the men that defend the football. it is about the service and not the money. the money would only de-value the service. read about Pat Tillman.

    wolf,
You should really listen to yourself. Your piss-poor attitude is the same as those who used to spit on 'Nam vets returning home.
I've said my piece, and you're welcome to get the last word as I'm not in the habit of arguing back and forth on the internet.

Lone Wolf is correct in my case. I joined the military for $$$ and travel. Patriotism was certainly not a driving factor. Adventure was...

I joined for the training, adventure, and opportunity to leave the house. I got more out of the military than they got out of me. As I have aged, I have given this much thought and feel kind of guilty about this.

I was never in the military, just in the Air Force - 1977 - 2001. (Sorry - my Marine and Army friends LOVE that joke.)

Thanks to the American taxpayers who paid for me and my wife to have a 3 year paid European vacation my last tour.

I once in awhile have a dream that I'm back in Japan vacationing, but I'm still a corporal and I'm 55 yrs old. Is there some inner meaning to that, I don't know!
