Pretty cool interview, and of course, glad to see he survived, but I'm surprised once he started hitting such deep snow he just didn't turn around.
Consider "Walk a mile in my boots." Loosing feeling in one's feet is a good signal that it is time to do SOMETHING. As for Sly's very wise suggestion, don't we all know how out of the question it is to retrace our steps out there? NO! no! NEVER! He is a lot leaner in the video than in his journal photos. Maybe he just didn't have much more fat to lose. I am just glad that we did not have another death on the trail.
You never know just what you can do until you realize you absolutely have to do it.

He wasnt a very thick hiker during his training hikes..as we met him last Nov between Roan and Elk Park during an ice storm.
