    Default MYOG mitten shells

I got bored yesterday and decided to use Lance from BPL's pattern to make some light mittens from leftover M90 http://www.wvi.com/~ulmyog

they are pretty simple and could be fancied up a bit if you had the inclination. draw cord.. elastic.. that kinda thing

i had to do mine a bit backwards and use blue palms and black backs since the blue was ripstop and the black is only taffeta.

10g, very good! They'll blow away before they wear out if you're not careful.

a friend made my rain mitts out of fleece-lined windstopper material (blanket given out to participants at end of long-distance run). she made gauntlet-style gloves so plenty of room to pull up over rain jacket sleeves. also added a button-hole so i can use small carinbiner to hang onto my pack when not in use but looks like rain coming. a huge thunderstorm struck while in the smokies--thunderhead mountain in fact--the mitts held up great, my hands were plenty warm, even if a bit damp (rain was torrential at times). i plan to use them on all my section hikes coming up.

That is a great weight, and im sure they help with warmth, mostly from reducing wind from getting into your softshell glove.

Inspiring me to try this with some Cuben scraps I have.

will definitely want some liner gloves inside cuben or it'll probably feel like a plastic bag and sweaty inside. nice and waterproof though.
