very upset, this storm set my hike of nj section back. now i cant go till next weekend...hope the weather is good then :[

be prepared for blowdowns.... and having to scramble over groups of trees....shame you cant fly.
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

latest NWS predictions are snow from the Smokies all the way up the mountains to new england ... will be interesting for those southbounders who've been spoiled by Indian summer weather all month

I'm waiting out this thing in Gatlinburg. I was on a roll too, I know how ya feel. Better to be in a crap tourist town for a few days than at 5k feet struggling through trail streams, sleet, and 30 mph winds, I say.

Yea, same here! I was going to do an overnighter around the DWG but decided to stay in. I really don't feel like getting caught in crappy weather tomorrow.

Falling trees definitely. I had a tree fall within 75 ft. of my tent during an all night soaker in PA a few years back. Talk about an rude awaking when that thing hit the ground.I think the bigger issue would be avoiding getting squashed by flying trees
