Default Top 10 Photo Ops from the AT

I just finished a section from Rutland to Hanover in which I hit the border bridge with the VT/NH engraved on the bridge.

I have seen this spot photographed many times on various trail journals and took my own. The Katahdin Sign and McAfee Knob Foot dangling sign have to be #1 and #2 most important/common photos with Springer plaque at #3. I was looking for nominations for #4-10. Thoughts?

Photo in front of the ATC should be #1.

I've only covered Springer to Fontana so far, but the tree at Bly Gap and Long Falls come to mind. My favorite picture (that I have taken) was a sunset from Cheoah Bald.

I missed a lot of these -- VT/NH engraving because of snow in November, Cheoah Bald on Sunday because of wind/rain/fog, don't know how I missed the tree at Bly Gap (unless this was the tree with the pipe in it), because I was looking for it. Cheoah Bald area does have the best scenery I have seen in my 800+ miles, but because of the weather, my best photo-op was from Wesser Bald tower.

I think that Hudson River/Bear Mountain Bridge (or alternatively, the bears at the Bear Mountain Zoo, the lowest point on the trail) should be on a top 10 list. I also really liked the view of Duncannon, PA and the Susquehanna River heading from the south.

Mt. Washington summit, Stratton Mtn. fire tower, Greylock War Memorial come to mind. For us in CT, big summit monument cairn on Bear Mtn is a favorite.

Moosilauke and Lafayette summits, too, of course. Grayson Highland Ponies, Max Patch have to be up there.

I would vote for the Roan pic, based on the fact I haven't been there yet, but I recognize the image, having seen that same shot many times. Good evidence it belongs on the list.

How's about the GA/NC sign nailed to the tree? That's a huge milestone for a majority of first-timers. Also, I dig the pic of the trail going through the building at Neel Gap.

Is this sign still out there? Where is it in relation to the "official" sign. I missed it this summer and was looking for it.

The view from the Gulfside Trail about a half mile below the summit of Mt. Washington looking down the Great Gulf with the Northern Presidential's beyond is one of my favorites.

Photos of the "Chunky Gal Trail" and The "Swinging Dick Gap" signs have been a couple of my favorites. They feed my sixth grade sense of humour quite well.
