    Default Cave?

Was talking to one of my buddies who lives near SNP in Virginia, and he told me that there was a cave somewhere in that 50-some mile stretch between Swift Run Gap and Front Royal that AT hikers sometimes spend the night in. Having read dozens of trail journals and all of the popular thru-hiker books, I'd never heard of such a thing.

I know about Shenandoah Caverns near Luray, but that's not what it. (Besides, I'm fairly certain that Shenandoah Caverns are touristy day use only with a $20+ admission fee).

Anyone know of this cave he's talking about?

I believe you are talking about the cave on Hazel River. Have a look at HikingUpward. One of the comments talk about camping in the cave.
