    Isn't that a contradiction?

Sorry...for you technical readers...I have been physically alone. For you spiritual readers...

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up? (Deuteronomy 32:30 KJV)

In case you guys are wondering about the heat. I've been putting on 7 miles every three hours between 6 and noon and taking a break the rest of the day and the weather has been gorgeous. At night I have to get in my mummy bag to stay warm.

I suggest hiking into a town & visitng a local church if you feel the need to converse with fellow Believers. On trail, the Lord will give you exactly what you need! Peace & Happy Hiking!

I haven't found a church that follows Jesus Christ, yet. That is why I said a follower of Jesus, not a Christian.

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: (Isaiah 29:13 KJV)

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:16 KJV)

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. (Ezekiel 33:31 KJV)

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (Matthew 15:8 KJV)

This is the reason I am on the trail. Get my drift?

When you meet the GA Ridgerunner, you'll find a fellow believer. The Blueberry Patch is now closed for the season, but you might call and talk to Gary and Lenni anyway, as their hostel is their mission. Best wishes on your hike from another AT hiking Christian.

There are no perfect churches, as their are no perfect Christians. I found it interesting to try and catch services at different churches along the trail either Sunday or Wednesday evenings.

Do you guys wear any type of clothing that identify you from a distance?

LOL, Chinmusic, I'm guessing you want to identify us so you can avoid us.... nope I wear a kilt and tshirt like most other hikers. A couple on the AT did have shirts that said their hike was dedicated to Jesus this year. Don't worry, most of us don't want to proceletyze, we just want to hike, live, and love.

Jesus must be a liar then.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 KJV)

    Thanks for the advice, though.

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (Numbers 6:24-26 KJV)

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 NIV)

And also, the verse you quoted (Matthew 5:48) is in reference to the command to associate with others than your brethren, so why not hike with a non-follower?

Do you only hike with Christians? If you are a follower of Jesus, do as he would do. I think he would prefer hiking with someone who is not saved, that way, his actions would be a testament for nonbelievers to change. You don't need a doctor if you are not sick; therefore, let your light shine for all.

He certainly is not a liar, but He is the only one who is perfect. We are to strive to be like Him, though most of us miss by miles!

If I only hiked with believers, I would be hiking alone even more than I do. Most of my AT GA-ME in 2010 was with other folks. Not sure my "light" was shining the way I had hoped.

Actually, I'd rather not hike with a Christian.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. (Ephesians 5:11 KJV)

Be ye not unequally yoked together
with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV)

I'm sorry you disagree with God. I do to sometimes, but at the end of the day...

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. (Romans 3:4 KJV)
