Maybe we'll see you there 10K, or soon after as you go flying by me
I've got Laura Woodward penciled in as my first stop tomorrow as well! I might go a bit further depending on time and terrain.

I should be at the Journey's End trailhead by 1:00 PM....

I left a few packets of oatmeal at Roundtop Shelter this morning as a poor attempt at trail magic. Maybe someone on here will make it there before someone else takes it.

Hey I spent the night at Roundtop shelter last night. Snaged three packets of chocolate chip oatmeal thanks!

Saw Jake this afternoon after Whiteface shelter and spent the first night at Laura Woodward shelter with slo'go-en.

I'm about a mile south of Sterling pond in a Ski lift shack. Got electricity and a stereo.

This is one tough trail. Mount Mansfield first thing in the morning.

Please don't do this - it invites animal issues at the shelters and gives hikers the signal to leave their food and trash there. Thanks! (from a ridge runner). Your best bet is to give it to hikers directly that you come in contact with.

Oh good I am really going to need to hear about this - esp as Sept approaches (I leave after ridge running ends). I am also very interested in hearing how Mansfield is SOBO. I've heard tales of immense difficulty.

Wish people would NOT leave food in shelters.... Not good and not leave no trace. Glad you got it out of there.

Oh boy... If you say it's tough, coming from a marathoner hiking man, it has to be...

We hung it up so hopefully the mice wouldn't get to it and it was just three small packs of oatmeal, we cleaned the trash out of the shelter and from Prospect Rock so I figure were even.

I've done it NOBO, and would make sure it's very dry (midday, if possible) before attempting a descent of the forehead. The chin was scary enough.

Hope you enjoyed! We were only out for the night there so I felt guilty about the easiness of our hike and wanted to hopefully do a small favor to kind of even myself out, haha.

I always like your reports. Looking forward to your finishing so I can read about your experience this time.

Made it to Appalachian gap this morning. I resupplied in waitsfield and am going to stay at the hydeaway inn tonight. 109 miles in 6 hiking days so far.

Mt Mansfield was interesting but easier than katahdin I thought. Whiteface was harder and camels hump was by far the hardest, longest climb ever. I started up camels hump at 12:30 and didn't get to Montclair glen shelter 2 miles down the summit on the other side until 6:30!

Mile for mile this is the hardest trail I've ever hiked. It does not ever let up.

The LT motto should be, "what new horror is around the next turn?"
