Default Parking along Blue Ridge Parkway

I am considering a section hike that would end along the Blue Ridge Parkway north of Roanoke.

Does anyone have any input regarding vehicle safety if I were to park along the parkway. According to the maps, I could park on a dirt road...or at one of those pull off areas for views. One would have fair vehicle traffic - the other would [hopefully] be tucked away out of view.

I'm not sure which would be a safer area for parking my car.

It would be there 7-10 days.

You might want to try looking at http://appalachiantrail.rohland.org. Sometimes hikers rate the safety of specific parking areas as well as posting a note about the area. If there has been trouble at a particular spot, there will be information posted so you will know what to avoid.

Also, check to make sure that you won't get fined for leaving your car parked, for that long, along the Parkway. I live close by. I might be able to help you out with your car.
