Really excited about starting as I have been talking about this for years. Upgraded equipment, obligations square, pulling together the final $$, offered a 6 month "sabbatical" (like that term in relation to a thru hike!) from work, hooked up with Gypsy a local friend and past AT hiker who may start with me. It all seems to be falling into place. A friends sudden passing a couple weeks ago cemented it for me. The past is behind and the AT is ahead. Life is meant to be lived!

Update: Have a plane ticket, and I'll be on the trail, (at least the approach trail), on 28 March! Yay!

If anyone is looking for a buddy to start with, please message me. I'd be interested in chatting. I'm pretty flexible on start dates, etc. I've wanted to do this since my brother hiked the AT in 2003; expected that we'd do it together in fact, but sadly we lost him last April. So, 2013 is it! Would seem a fitting homage to my brother that I follow in his footsteps, quite literally.
